Nature Bringing Home in The Hills Chinick Landscaping & Nursery checked in with their Nature Attracting Home in the Hills: 'This home blends both function and aesthetics while integrating with the landscape of the surrounding Portland Metro area. Beautiful yet ecological landscape design customized to suit a home while providing sustainability and local wildlife species biodiversity. We recognized these as crucial landscape components from the beginning as we sought to catch up with the mature topography that was present. We selected native species like Oregon grape and red-twig dogwood that not only do well in the local climate, but also attract birds and pollinators to provide food and habitat. A descending succession of gardens were incorporated in local stone & boulders for a transitional step from home to hills. The property sloped at such a steep angle that this was a major hurdle for us. Our amazing team went to illustrate an exciting terracing system that worked to stabilize the slope and carve out discrete planting zones for varied plantings, and ease of care. To allow more water to soak into the ground and establish ground cover, permeable pavers were also integrated into some of the paths, which also protected our work from erosion and kept the ecological balance of the area. And the end result is a stunning property that the client could not be happier with: a restful water feature attracting birds and butterflies, and comfortable sitting areas to relax and meditate. This seamless fusion of beauty and sustainability illustrates the ethos behind Chinick Landscaping & Nursery providing quality, craftsmanship in environmentally responsible ways.
