Southampton by Kathy Henry Exterior Design Located in the beautiful community of Southampton, this bold landscaping by Kathy Henry Exterior Design features a great marriage of beauty and practicality in the outdoor design. Serving the dynamic neighborhoods of Cardiff By The Sea, Carlsbad, Encinitas and surrounding areas, our team effectively turned what was considered an unfriendly outdoor space into an outdoor paradise. The included a carefully thought-out layout inclusive of native drought-resistant planting palettes, colorful flower beds, as well as a more formal hardscape of natural stone paths. We used great materials, such as flagstone and permeable pavers which were locally sourced, both to sustain ethical materials and composition, as well as to enhance drainage and sustainability. The softscape elements we selected for the design, including ornamental grasses, succulents, and flowering shrubs, created beauty while enhancing the biodiversity of the area. One of the greatest challenges was the property’s condition with too much varying topography. Our seasoned design team utilized terracing to develop a multi-level garden maximizing the space with all of the views. We also installed an effective irrigation system to conserve water, while maintaining the beautiful lush landscape. The end result was a harmonic landscape that fit beautifully with the natural surroundings, providing the client with a quiet wrought for relaxation and entertaining.
