"This concrete staircases destinations is one of our latest testament to our attention to high quality and innovative design which is located in southern Maine, including Cape Elizabeth, Portland, and Kennebunk. This is a custom stone stair designed to connect the different levels of a gorgeous garden. We fashioned locally sourced granite steps that provide a natural look and durability while promoting mobility and comfort, creating a beautiful contrast with abundant greenery. The natural stone materials choice was very important; we selected a palette to be in harmony with the landscape where the staircases are built, avoiding the feeling of being artificial, using local stone called Calcite Olive Green. One of the biggest difficulties was site topography, so we had to plan and engineer the structures well to be stable and safe. Our experienced team had graded the site, prepared a solid base and even done drainage to eliminate potential for erosion and water damage. The outcome was a set of beautiful, functional staircases which flow seamlessly through the landscape. The final design showcases long, wide steps down to the water that beckon one to explore, flanked on both sides by native plants and ornamental grasses that accentuate rather than detract from the natural landscape. Soft landscape lighting was added to light the stairwells at night, so that when people were over in the evenings the were soft and welcoming. The client was really happy with the result claiming the stone staircases were not only functional but also made her outdoor space a whole lot prettier.
