It demonstrates our commitment to quality and craftsmanship in landscape design, while fulfilling the unique needs of a historic neighborhood and accommodating modern aesthetics. The garden combines a thoughtful collection of native plantings that require little maintenance and provide ecological value, like beautiful azaleas, and resilient palmettos. Permeable pavers and locally sourced stone pathways were utilized to optimize stormwater, while still honoring the historical nature of the area. The incorporation of corten steel raised beds adds a striking, modern contrast and contemporary sophistication, while providing a geometric structure for seasonal vegetables and herbs. One of the main challenges of this was not just to meet, but honor the local zoning ordinances, while providing a design that remained sympathetic and sensitive to the historic meanings and context from which it is formed. Our team worked closely and collaboratively with the authorities in the area and was able to provide imaginative interpretations that showed respect for the historic fabric while providing a renewed sense of an outdoor living space. The final product is a beautiful striking garden (both form and function), with a passive seating area, custom built-in benches, and a fire pit for gathering. The overall landscape is carefully curated to provide both curb appeal, and as an outdoor space that represents an inviting gathering place for the homeowners and their guests. The client was thrilled with the transformation and was indescribably pleased with the final design and how it fulfilled their vision. They articulated that their expectation was exceeded by not only infusing their idea into the landscape, but also combining modern luxury and representation with history.
