Boulder Wall by Nature One Landscape Design The Boulder Wall is just one example of how Nature One Landscape Design turned this outdoor space into a beautifully elegant living area for our Birmingham area including Alabaster, Chelsea and Vestavia Hills clients. The landscaping included a precise engineering and construction of a functional yet decorative natural boulder retaining wall. We hand-picked locally sourced boulders that are weathered and provide structural beauty to the natural landscape. The wall not only prevents soil erosion, but it also creates tiered garden beds for bursts of seasonal colors of flowers. A great challenge was the slope of the land, a difficult engineering task from both a stability and drainage perspective. We designed a wall that would flow with the land and allow water to run off easily while still allowing for a solid footing of rich earth for vegetation. The finishing touches were the native plant selections that tied into the boulder aesthetics in a low maintenance and sustainable fashion. The end result is a stunning boulder wall that adds value to your home while offering a peaceful landscape for wandering or entertaining. Our clients were ecstatic with the results, even commenting that they did not know wall construction could be this exquisite and natural looking in their landscape.
