Mercer Island Landscape by Kate Martin Design Located within the beautiful area of Mercer Island, 'Mercer Island Landscape' is another example of our pursuit to connect nature with a contemporary aesthetic while serving the entire Metro Seattle area. After seeing the potential to improve the outdoor living spaces of this homeowner, we undertook a transformative . The Mercer Island Landscape includes a harmonious blend of native plantings, expertly designed pathways, and welcoming outdoor spaces for relaxation and entertaining. By using high-quality materials, such as stone sourced locally for hardscaping and drought resistant plants, we encouraged sustainability to shape our design. An incredible water feature is incorporated in the design as it provides a focal point and improves the audible landscape of ever-flowing water. The client encountered terrain that presented some challenges. The slope of the property called for us to think outside the box with design strategies to create level spaces for seating and plantings. We used terracing methods to increase usable area and manage proper drainage and soil stability. This not only added to the visual aesthetic, but also addressed erosion concerns in the surrounding environment. The end result is a breathtaking landscape of tranquility melded with sophistication. The transition from indoors to outdoors is seamless with the arrival to a warm fire pit flanked with lush plantings, a functioning vegetable garden, and a cozy path inviting a stroll in the evening’s comfort. The homeowner was elated with the transformation, indicating it increased their home’s curb appeal while serving arm and arm with friends and family!
