My hourly or fixed-fee rates are quite low for a designer with 25 yrs. experience and a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture. The process we will guide you through is logical, economical, innovative and fun! I have been honored with the “Best of ” award for service four times. That rating is based on reviews of my work from my clients. To start the conversation, do a House Call at a time that works for your schedule on a weekday or weekend. House Call: $250 flat fee I understand there is a lot to cover in 60 minutes of House Call. At that point schedule that meeting for 2 hours. We provide hardscape and planting designs, allowing your overall space to flow nicely. We also help with coordinating the construction and the permit processing required for your projects. With 25 years experience and awards galore (4-time Best of Houzz winner!) we bring an innovative spirit and high level of efficiency to any scale of project, small and large, consults, design, and implementation.

Kate Martin Design is proud to serve across the Metro Seattle Area. This wide service area enables us to partner with a variety of clients, from those within busy city center neighborhoods to those residing in more suburban or even rural communities across the metro. Whether you are in West Seattle, Magnolia, the Central Area or anywhere else in Metro Seattle, we are here to help you with your landscaping. Being local to Seattle gives us knowledge of both climate and the plant species, thus being our designs more appropriate to survive in the area! Although the timing for a landscaping job at Kate Martin Design really varies based upon the amount of work that has to be done, a lengthy job (involving any ground excavation for example) may go beyond about 2–3 months, whilst a fleeting procedure can take as little as a couple of days to a few weeks potentially. Smaller jobs, like a simple garden redesign or planting plan, will take a couple of weeks from the time of the initial consultation to the final design. It may take months for bigger jobs like lots of hardscaping or garden remodeling. It usually begins with the House Call, followed by design development, construction coordination, and execution. By natural collaboration with you, we create a timeline in which all phases of the project will be delivered in a timely manner but without compromising quality. And a successful project is largely about communication in all the Steps mentioned.

Kate Martin Design specializes in the design and implementation of a project, but we can also assist you in the development of a maintenance plan for your newly designed landscape. I do not offer direct long term maintenance (these are project-based services); however, if you would like to take it step further, I can share my experiences and provide advice on how to maintaint your plants and hardscape components. This encompasses guidance on watering, pruning, fertilizer, seasonal care based on the items we install in your project. And if you would rather outsource the maintenance work, I can also refer you to trusted maintenance services. We want to help you keep your space looking great and healthy even after the design process is over.

Absolutely! At Kate Martin Design, we provide construction coordination so that your project goes from concept to completion effortlessly. Having previous functionalities of landscape architecture and many years of project manager experience, I could manage the construction process to meet the design concepts we create together. Which involves coordinating with contractors, managing timelines, and navigating local regulations, including getting permits if needed. I aim to make the process from design to construction as smooth as possible so that you can enjoy the building of your new outdoor space without worrying about multiple trades, contractors and timelines. House Call, $250 — This includes up to 2 hours with you, at your home. In this session, we would talk about your landscaping plans, and visit your area to get an idea of what you have in mind. This is your chance to pick my brain about design options available, inquire about questions and we can discuss other services we provide based on your needs. The fee also represents my 25 years of experience and landscape architectural expertise. After we meet, you will know exactly whether your project is a go or not and if you would like me to help you with that project. This is where we get to know each other, provide the basis of our collaboration.

Our pricing structures at Kate Martin Design can be tailored to suit different types of projects and budgets. The House Call is a flat-rate price of $250 for a two-hour consult. We can work on either hourly basis or fixed-fee basis for your larger projects as per the nature and complexity of your needed services. You will benefit from the competitive rates we access, thanks to my years of experience helping you and knowing which rates you may pull, and the individualized nature of our service. Following our consultation I will submit an extensive proposal including the costs of the draft, materials, and any other requested services. I believe that transparency in pricing goes a long way in establishing a sense of trust which is why I do my best to make sure you are fully aware of all the costs associated with your project.
