About This Project

Simple Balance by Terra Design Located in the city of Seattle, the ‘Simple Balance’ landscaping turned an ordinary urban backyard into a peaceful sanctuary, demonstrating Terra Design’s approach to quality and creativity. Terra Design serves the various neighborhoods of Ballard, Beacon Hill, and Mercer Island. The asked us to accommodate the modern aesthetic the homeowner desired while also incorporating a naturalistic plant palette. The included a thoughtfully designed and utilized native understory plants, such as indigenous ferns and wildflowers, adding another dimension of both aesthetics and serving our local ecology. To enhance the existing plants we installed a beautiful stone path, utilizing locally sourced basalt which enmeshed with the neighboring landscape. The stone is an obviously durable choice, but the quality of natural stone also brings a rustic and naturalistic expression and feeling to the , which aligned better with the homeowner’s intentions. Another crucial challenge with this site was to manage the slope of the yard and associated drainage issues. To this end our practical crews create a detailed grading plan along with permeable pavers and a rain garden to manage the water quality while minimizing any erosion. The new grading and rain garden not only improved the functional aspect of this residential site but added to the glorified environmental scope of a sustainable landscape design. The ultimate outcome of a peaceful outdoor experience is that our client is satisfied with the new place to spend with family and friends, to relax, and just enjoy being outside. The Continuity of Time and Construction allowed this to be completed on time and within budget, which is one of Terra Design’s skills developed along with quality landscaping that is practical and beautiful. This exemplifies Terra Design’s commitment to effectively creating outdoor living spaces while engaging with the ecological footprint of our regional neighborhoods.
