Stetson Hills Designed by the highly regarded, Landscape Architect, Ruben Valenzuela, Stetson Hills is the vocation of landscape design at its best in Southern California. Stetson Hills is set between the scenic hills of the San Gabriel Valley and the San Fernando Valley. It is a classic example of outdoor living and natural beauty coming together in a beautiful landscape. Stetson Hills is created with many beautiful drought-tolerant plants that have been purposely selected to maximize plant design in a water-conscious climate. Using native shrubs, colorful succulents, and decorative grasses creates a rich landscape, that enhances the environment by attracting wildlife to the outdoor setting. Seasonal plants were also integrated into the design to create a pop of color at critical times of the year, to offer an ever-changing seasonal aspect, to the outdoor living environment. Ruben experienced several challenges just with the lay of the land, in addition to the negative aspect of having an existing irrigation system. Using both design and craftsmanship skills, Ruben turned these challenges into opportunities. He provided a high efficiency drip irrigation system, distributed efficiently to allow any plants within the landscape to be successfully planted and sustain the life of the landscape up by the client's home, for their enjoyment year-round. The hardscape for Stetson Hills is an extension of the living environment. The centerpiece is a custom-designed stone pathway, which leads the occupant into, and through the landscape, providing well-placed seating areas disguised in and within natural boulders. All materials chosen were of the highest quality, and sourced locally, to sustain wear from nature's outdoor elements. Stetson Hills is a beautiful outdoor living environment that the client loves and incorporates the principles of sustainable landscaping practices throughout the design process.
