Summary: Houston Southern Estate by McDugald-Steele Located at the center of Houston's premier neighborhoods, the Houston Southern Estate displays the utmost in landscaping and building expertise by McDugald-Steele. Serving the active communities of Bellaire, Bunker Hill Village, and River Oaks, this transformed an existing large property into a sophisticated landscape that blends formality with function. The design was based on careful selection of native plants that would thrive in Houston's climate, and provide an exceptional aesthetic to the site. Seasonal flower beds provide vibrant color for various times of the year, while carefully selected trees provide mature shade and an established presence of time. High-quality hardscaping products, including local stone and custom hand-laid pavers, were used to create walks and patios that invite outdoor living and entertaining. One of the most pressing issues was modifying the existing drainage issues on property. A custom system was designed to prevent rain water from flowing toward the home and gardens. The system both preserved the beauty of the landscape and the home. As part of enhancing the outdoor experience, McDugald-Steele designed a custom outdoor kitchen and dining area, with custom cabinetry and quality appliances, so the family could enjoy their meals outside within their landscaped environment. A calming water feature with a landscape fountain was included to create a peaceful sound and provide a habitat for the existing wildlife. The completed delivered a fantastic landscape for the client's expectations. The Houston Southern Estate highlighted McDugald-Steele's quality, attention to detail, and the ability to achieve the client's vision, as shown in their new outdoor space that they can use for relaxing and celebrating for years to come. The client's response and enjoyment of their estate encapsulate the transformation of the property to a personal oasis.
