About This Project

Title: Rain Gardens & Native Plants Description: City Garden Company City Garden Company completes the 'Rain Gardens & Native Plants' , a landscaping to beautify and improve the ecological health and diversity of the local communities including Druid Hills, Gwinnett, Sandy Springs and the vibrant city of Atlanta. Rain gardens were installed as part of this ; gardens specifically designed to treat stormwater runoff and promote biodiversity. For our native plants, we went with a broad index that included coneflowers, black-eyed Susans, and ferns. This helped to enhance the landscape while also providing resources to local pollinators and wildlife. A key obstacle we had to overcome was the different layers of topography present on the site, so we had a lot of grading and soil amendment to do to create an adequate drainage and lively substrate for the plants. Using permeable pavers and organic mulch, our professional team arched in sustainable materials to help with protecting the quality of the water and soil, protecting and directing the flow of water into our land by allowing it to easily infiltrate in the soil and prevent soil erosion. Its inventive design incorporated the rain gardens into the existing landscape, complementing the natural flow of water through the area, and forming a striking visual centerpiece. The outcome far exceeded client expectations, turning a previously neglected landscape into a vibrant, green and sustainable haven. Not only was the a beautiful addition for the homeowners, but it educated them on the value of native plants and processes surrounding managing rainwater.
