Midcentury Modern Landscape City Garden Company Located in downtown Atlanta, the Midcentury Modern Landscape by City Garden Company features the same contemporary lines with a nostalgic edge. Tucked in the Virginia Highlands neighborhood, this landscaping swap highlights many of the hallmarks of midcentury architecture while complementing the natural landscape. With careful planning, we crafted a design approach that emphasizes clean lines and organic shapes while highlighting an assortment of native plants that compliment the local ecology. Some of the highlights consist of a really bold mixture of drought tolerant succulents, ornamental grasses and colourful perennials for a nice textural patchwork that gives seasonal interest. The materials also needed to be solid; for us, we chose natural stone pavers and reclaimed wood for retaining walls. The property was very sloped, so we needed to devise friendly, tiered garden beds that would function with the ground. In response, our talented landscape architects designed a terracing solution that not only addressed the drainage problem, but also carved out intimate spaces for relaxing and entertaining. And what we got at the end was nothing short of amazing. Our clients were thrilled with the seamless addition to their outdoor space that now incorporates a zen garden, contemporary fire pit area, and privacy hedges - allowing for a wonderful break away from the urban world. A proof of City Garden Company’s precision in landscape, this speaks of passion and the urge of creating rejuvenating landscapes. Whether it be in Arcade, in Buckhead, City Garden Company has great customers with unique landscaping demands. The Midcentury Modern Landscape represented a new type of transformation for us; a unique space that not only transformed a property but improved the lives of our clients by delivering an outdoor oasis that they can enjoy for many years to come.
