About This Project

Modern Woodland Hideaway Citescape Company has developed a gorgeous landscaping 'Woodland Hideaway', in which modern architecture fuses with nature seamlessly. Set in an urban environment in midtown Atlanta, the Bent Tree (read it here) converted a typical backyard into a private respite where residents can retreat to rise above the busy city below. We seamlessly incorporated native plants into a beautiful, ecologically sustainable landscape that suits the local climate and reduces its watering needs, while also contributing to increased biodiversity. The design beautifully incorporates seasonally-appropriate textured ferns, native colorful wildflowers and ornamental grasses, which are included for wildlife habitat. The focal point of the hideaway includes a winding stone trail made of locally sourced flagstone, that gently guides visitors through the property without looking too obvious. Grading for drainage in an infill can be difficult enough;; this had the extra challenge of needing to eliminate as little earth as possible from around existing canopy trees. Our talented landscape team mitigated this by creating a tiered plan with boulders used as natural retaining walls to create both functionality and beauty. On top of that we incorporated an appliance level fire pit with natural seating for star-belly parties around the fire. Gentle, atmospheric light was woven throughout the landscape and used to accent the special qualities and to cast a spell at night. The end product is an eye-catching, practical outdoor area that not only fulfills the clients wishes for seclusion and relaxation, but also highlights the beauty of the surrounding trees. The 'Modern Woodland Hideaway' proves City Garden Company knows its way around a quality build as well as peerless landscaping solutions, with the homeowners beaming and keen to showcase their new escape to their friends and family.
