Landscaping this small urban lot proved that lush elegance is possible even on a small scale. Our team started with a careful evaluation of the current site, and we immediately saw an opportunity to increase functionality while adding beauty. We mixed soil eco-sustainable plants (native Georgia plants, rarely needing additional water) with a minimalist, stunning look. Corten steel planters, polished concrete pathways and natural stone accents were used throughout the property creating a striking contrast and deepening the surroundings with detail and movement. Because our yard was so steep, we ended up solving one of our biggest problems erosion with tiered garden beds. They served both to catch the eye and to promote soil retention and drainage, both critical to keeping the plants healthy. We also installed a drip irrigation system, which helped us save more water while keeping the plants watered regularly. At the heart of the is a custom outdoor living space complete with a patio, fire pit and seating to entertain and enjoy the cool evenings of the summer months under a blanket of stars. Climbing vines sprawl over a vibrant modern wall dotted with succulents in a vertical garden, almost as if the nature is trying to infiltrate human territory, ground floor among cubicles and brownstones. The client was over-the-moon happy with her new little slice of outdoor heaven when finished, saying it turned out even better than she could have imagined. By doing so, they were able to add even more value to the property while promoting a stronger nature interest in the middle of the city through the 'Modern City Home' .
