The planting palette utilized drought-tolerant plantings including California lilacs and manzanitas that created a beautiful and sustainable low-maintenance landscape appropriate for the climate. One of our primary challenges was the typical slope of the land experienced within the Mill Valley region. Our talented landscape architects created tiered gardens that wrapped elegantly around the slope of the land, managing any erosion while presenting multiple scenic levels of plant material. A custom-designed drainage system was incorporated into the to alleviate any potential water runoff and to prolong the life of the plant material. The centerpiece of the landscape was a fantastic upholstered seating area with a finished stone fire pit designed and customized for seating family and friends around the fire while star-gazing outdoors. This inviting area included vibrant, rich materials including reclaimed wood and natural stone to create comfort and an earthy, rustic experience contributing to the appeal of the landscape. The resulting is a beautiful landscape that attends to both the practical needs of the homeowners and enhances the ecological character of the lands and residential homes in the Sycamore area.
