Located in historic Corte Madera, this provided an opportunity to carry Bon Terra's mission of quality construction and timeless design to new heights. The underwent significant discourse and visitations around the site analysis of the unique topography and other environmental conditions of the hillside. The site analysis presented Bon Terra with the challenge of erosion control, which was addressed by using retaining walls composed of locally sourced natural stone. These retaining walls provided structural capacity and were crafted to complement the the surrounding landscape while creating elegant terraces that enhanced functionality in the garden. The design included a complete palette of native plants, specifically selected for attractive visuals, resilient aspects and low-water requirements. By incorporating native plants the team enhanced sustainable practices while providing year-round colour and textures. A sinuous flagstone pathway led visitors elegantly through the site and encouraged them to meander and explore the garden in appreciation of this lush assemblage. To further respond to the client's desires, multiple seating areas composed of reclaimed wood were spread throughout the site to signify ability of the homeowners to absorb, relax and reflect while enjoying their outdoor setting. Lighting was also a significant consideration of the . Where possible, energy-efficient, and low-wattage LED fixtures were installed as accent lights that highlighted important site features and provided ambience when the sun disappeared during the evening. Meanwhile, a drip irrigation system was also included to ensure that the plants thrive on less water and to fulfill the homeowners' sustainability commitments. Ultimately, the collective scope of work resulted in an incredible hillside garden that exceeded the client's hopes and visions.
