Turf Renovation by Premiere Landscape Design Our Turf Renovation at Premiere Landscape Design was exciting and transformative work, performed in Hampton Roads, Virginia. The hardworking team transformed a tired, patchy lawn in the communities of Chesapeake, Newport News, Norfolk, Portsmouth, Suffolk, and Virginia Beach. Our team was challenged to renovate a lawn that had experienced years of environmental stress and neglect. The first step in our renovation process was to perform a soil test to determine nutrient deficiencies and the level of soil compaction present. Our landscaping team then initiated a multi-step approach, starting with aeration to improve the health of the soil, while helping to encourage deeper roots. We then selected an appropriate turf blend to install, being careful to choose a high-quality, drought-resistant turf mix compatible with the climate of the area for a robust lawn. One of the challenges that we addressed in this was the drainage configuration and obstructions that led to the pooling of water, further degrading the lawn. After assessing the entire area, our drainage experts installed a properly engineered drainage system that included French Drains, which alleviated the lawn watering issues and provided enhanced drainage throughout the landscape areas. Upon completion of the above steps, we began the installation of sod, being careful to cut and fit each roll of sod properly, along with its natural transition through the backyard. As a finishing touch, we utilized stone to create a border to match the stones already in place, along with the addition of native flowering plants, which create a bright, colorful contrast to the greens of the lawn. The result was a wonderful sod installation completed, and the lawn was a beautiful, lush addition, which became the envy of the neighborhood.
