Townhouse Contemporary Zen - Seattle, WA Sage and Stone LLC is pleased to introduce a unique conversion , ‘Townhouse Contemporary Zen’ located in Seattle, WA. This urban retreat offered fun and relaxation amid Seattle's busy lifestyle, marrying contemporary design with a peaceful natural setting. An overall landscape design was created to unify modern design with Zen design principles. The core of this design is a beautiful stone path that slowly flows through the space and lands at a bamboo grove, which is not only a design feature but also a place for contemplation. Natural local materials, basalt stone for the patio and reclaimed wood for the raised beds, are beautiful and sustainable features. One of the main challenges of this job was confined space and the need for a multi-functional garden that served both relaxation and entertainment purposes. We met this challenge by using vertical gardens and seating options that melded indoor and outdoor living throughout the design. Dramatic soft ambient lighting was installed through the garden to illuminate the colorful plant life in the evening, topping it off with the soft sound of water flowing from a bold modern fountain that rounds out the calm atmosphere of the garden. Native plantings were utilized, which added beautiful color throughout the year and are low-maintenance undemanding plants that reinforce local wildlife where they reside. The end product is a modern landscape garden that surpassed the expectations of the clients in home improvement. Clients loved getting away into their new personal landscape for comfort, but also enjoyed an escape back to nature.
