Profile: Laurelhurst DeckScape by Sage and Stone LLC Located in the beautiful Laurelhurst Neighborhood, the Laurelhurst DeckScape embodies a modern synthesis of nature and contemporary design by Sage and Stone LLC. Serving the diverse communities of Ballard, Beacon Hill, Bellevue, Clyde Hill, Medina, Mercer Island, North Beacon Hill, and Seattle, we were excited to transform this neighborhood's outdoor property into a peaceful respite. The featured elements of the were a multi-tiered deck made of sustainably sourced Ipe wood, known for its durable qualities and rich, warm tones. This elevated structure is part of the beautiful landscape that boasts views of lush green and soft water elements. In order to beautify the deck and help plant native biodiversity in the area, we included custom built planters with native plant varieties that will provide vibrant seasonal displays. One of the main design challenges was the steep topography of the site, which needed unexpected engineering elements for safe access between the levels. Our crafty and skilled team was able to design and engineer retaining walls using natural stone to secure the slopes and accumulate needed soil, as well as create a distinct topical feature. We also designed an efficient rainwater runoff drainage system into the property to manage snowmelt and rainwater runoff. This is important for the longevity of the deck and surround natural landscape. The final product is a stunning backyard that welcomes outdoor relaxation and entertaining. Now, clients can enjoy evenings under the stars on their large deck, surrounded all the scents and sounds of new topical plants and a newly featured water element. The Laurelhurst Deckscape is not just a landscape; it is a meditative respite that provides connections to natural beauty in the environment and showcases craftsmanship from Sage and Stone LLC. The final smiles on our clients’ faces when we turned them towards their newly emerged backyard are truly the most beautiful outcome of our creativity and work ethic.
