Through a thorough site analysis, the renovation started to identify some of the challenges offered by the existing landscape. The site consisted of uneven terrain with some areas experiencing little sunlight that called for some creative solutions. In response, we worked with the client to implement a grading plan that leveled the landscape and provided a remedy for excess water pooling on the site. The quality of materials was paramount. We used locally sourced stone in the hardscaping elements, which included a prominent flagstone patio for outdoor entertaining. A custom built fire pit surrounded by organic boulders also complemented the patio for evenings of romance under the stars. Additionally, decorative gravel pathways were used to connect areas of the yard while providing an accessible route for the visitor to follow through the luscious landscape. Finally, we planted a selection of diverse, native plants that naturally thrive in the Pacific Northwest climate, and consider seasonal bloom and ability to attract wildlife. In the landscape, we used a variety of rhododendrons, ferns, and lavender. The inclusion of a drip irrigation system, ensures each plants receive proper hydration, while encouraging healthy growth and longevity. The final product of the Mill Creek Landscape Renovation is a beautiful balance of use and aesthetics, transforming the client's space into a retreat. The excited homeowners are now able to enjoy their landscaped yard to relax, play, and entertain.
