Summary: Green Roof Doghouse The 'Green Roof Doghouse' was recently completed by Wheel & Barrow Landscape Design & Maintenance. It represents our aspirations to create new, Sullivan environmentally friendly landscaping opportunities for pet owners situated in Sheboygan County, Wisconsin, including Elkhart Lake, Sheboygan, Plymouth, and Sheboygan Falls. The doghouse has a living green roof, which is meant to create a cozy shelter for the client's dog and improve the environmental and aesthetic footprint of the property. We carefully selected native, drought-tolerant plants to create an environmentally friendly landscape. By using plants that are compatible with the existing landscape, we created a colorful and functional habitat for the dog. The doghouse was constructed using high quality cedar wood sourced sustainably. Our crew faced the challenge of fitting an irrigation system into the green roof while allowing for proper drainage. The architectural team of Wheel & Barrow Landscape Design & Maintenance produced an effective rainwater management system using modern layers of drainage substrate and an innovative irrigation system, which efficiently maximizes the available moisture for the plants. The completed doghouse represents our eye for detail and is a quality addition to the landscape. Its lush green roof integrates with the backyard, hence providing shade and tranquility for the clients. The clients are satisfied with new cost effective doghouse that is aesthetically pleasing and that enhances their landscape in a manner that benefits the eco-system.
