Notes: Green Roof Birdhouse By Wheel & Barrow Landscape Design & Maintenance Located in the beautiful Wisconsin countryside of Sheboygan County lies our newest , the 'Green Roof Birdhouse.' This imaginative birdhouse is not only a stunning garden element, but also a viable habitat for some of the client’s local bird species. The birdhouse is made of yellow cedar, a naturally weather-resistant wood. The green roof, layered with native sedum plants, is made of drought-resistant plants that were scientifically selected for their potential thrive success in the local climate, biodiversity of the local ecology, and insulation of our feathered friends. The roof was designed properly to ensure water-drainage and no water pooling; that posed a structural and/or engineering problem, with the sloping of the roof line and the addition of a gravel base, we worked that issue out. The birdhouse structure in itself, posed a problem of contextualized fit in the existing garden vicinity while blending in aesthetics. To tackle this problem, the very skilled we used a common natural stone to blend in with the surroundings, then complemented that with re-cycled wood in the laying pattern that slightly differentiated some of the garden elements. Then - a small path - a very beautifully designed natural stone, all complimentary to the newly designed birdhouse and garden. The finished birdhouse was both a stunning and functionally engineered design that provides shelter for our flying friends, as well as being an aesthetic focal point. The client was, and has, expressed overwhelming joy with the craftsmanship and finished aesthetic. The client appreciated our working to blend the functional elements of weaving eco-friendliness with beauty. Wheel & Barrow Landscape Design & Maintenance is committed to both quality and sustainable practices; taking a commonly seen concept of a basic birdhouse, to a new level of vibrant living art. Which, not only adds environmental value, but an aesthetic improvement of the Sheboygan County countryside landscape ecology in itself.
