An Adults Play Yard

Summary: Adults Play Yard Constructed by The Aldrich Company - Landscape Design, the ‘Adults Play Yard’ took an underused area of the exterior space which only held overgrown lawn grasses at the center of the backyard and created an incredible oasis of relaxation and recreation. The was created for the beautiful communities of Carpinteria, Goleta, Mission Canyon, Montecito, Santa Barbara, Summerland, Toro Canyon and Hope Ranch, and was designed for our existing clients who wanted a quality outdoor space to socialize with friends and family. The design is a beautiful response of nature and functional design with a custom-built pergola that is fully appointed with climbing vines to create dappled shade over a large sitting area. Well crafted teak furniture with comfortable cushions are setup in the lounge area to allow for long afternoons spent with friends. A small firepit and seating area are adjacent to the lounging area for intimate gatherings at night under the stars. A bocce ball court is also designed for more competitive friendly fun! To create harmony in the surrounding landscape we used locally sourced stone for pathways and retaining walls which compliment the rustic appeal and earthy elegance. Native drought-tolerant plants were used for improved aesthetics and sustainability. One of the difficulties encountered was having to level the earth due to the isolated slope and remaining the structural integrity of the existing Oak Trees. Our team used specialized grading techniques to produce a balance between landscaping form and function without compromising our stunning oak tree day and view. The finished product is a lively and multifunctional outdoor space that excites our clients and provides them with a variety of ways in which they can use and enjoy their outdoor space.
