Zen Retreat by Michael Glassman & Associates The 'Zen Retreat' by Michael Glassman & Associates in the Greater Sacramento area demonstrated how a simple backyard can be enhanced by making a truly beautiful space that offers a sense of peace and sophistication. We serve a diverse client base throughout the south and west areas of the Greater Sacramento area, including Antelope, Arden-Arcade, Carmichael, and others. Our practice, with its experience in making spaces that reflect the importance of mindfulness and relaxation, was ideal in achieving the client's intent. Significant aspects of the included the incorporation of various native plants and several water elements, including a lovely koi pond, that were polished with river stones. The water features not only added visual beauty and accent to the but also provided calming sounds. The landscape architects selected vegetation, drought resistant and low maintenance, with beauty and sustainability in mind. The natural materials chosen for the decks and pathways, including reclaimed wood for the deck and high-quality flagstones for the pathways, added texture and eco-friendly beauty to the . Among the many design and construction challenges presented with the , the goal was to level the site without impacting the existing mature trees that provided aesthetics and comfortable readjusted shade throughout the outdoor spaces. The creative grading allowed for quality decisions to save this natural resource while establishing areas suitable for meditation, sitting, and entertaining. The finished product exceeded the client's expectations while balancing the combination of beauty and usability of an outdoor space. The Zen Retreat serves as a personal retreat to merely relax and promote mindfulness by allowing the appetite for tranquility in the frantic nature of life. The quality of our craftsmanship as seen in the , coupled with complimentary remarks from neighbors and guests alike, adds to the reputation of Michael Glassman & Associates throughout neighboring El Dorado and Placer counties.
