Encapsulated in the heart of Sacramento, English Garden Retreat is an extraordinary representation of the fine attention to workmanship and artistry of Michael Glassman & Associates. This completely transforms a typical back yard into one of peacefulness: a serene experience combining the charm of the traditional English garden with the aspects required of the modern American home. The landscape consists of carefully designed perennial flower beds that are vibrant, beautifully shaped boxwood hedges, as well as perfumed climbing roses. The resulting effect attracts visitors in and entices them to stroll through the garden. The stone paths, upon which the garden rests, are constructed of a native flagstone, and as such are inviting and easy to walk on. A rustic gazebo constructed of reclaimed woodz invites the visitor to stop a moment to enjoy the garden. Probably the most difficult aspect of this was the extreme yet irregular grade that required thoughtful grading and drainage problem solving in order to allow the longevity and sustainability in use of the . We used permeable pavers in the patio area both for excellent water management and improvement of the aesthetics of the area. For all gardens we installed an irrigation system that conserves water yet allows for natural healthy plant growth in keeping with the commitment for all designs of Michael Glassman & Associates to provide the environmentally responsible landscaping. In total, the ultimate result is a landscape that is astonishingly beautiful and that satisfies completely the vision and expectations of the client. The English Garden Retreat is a harmonious blending of beauty and peace whether used in entertaining guests or simply finding quiet time in a walk in the garden.
