Hunting Crest SURROUNDS Landscape Architecture + Construction is excited to share the 'Hunting Crest' , a wonderful transformation in the heart of Aldie, Virginia. This landscape renovation was designed to both complement and enhance the landscape characteristics of the site. The brought together multiple hardscaping and softscaping features such as custom stone pathways of locally sourced bluestone to a tranquil outdoor living area. Multiple terraces made from weather resistant materials provided ample opportunity for entertaining and the natural stone seating walls provided the outdoor space with an inviting place to relax and converse with friends. The did present the challenge of using a site with both varying topographic changes and a resident who was concerned water pooling against their house. SURROUNDS' team of skilled professionals developed a sophisticated drainage system that incorporated permeable pavers and planned bioswales that supported the prevention of erosion, while planning for the long-term sustainability of the landscape. The plant scheme was designed with native plants, with the intention of attracting "natives" and pollinators along the way. The design intention relied on the beauty of perennials and ornamentals combined with the strategy of evergreens to obtain seasonal beauty, while allowing for shade and privacy. The outcome of the 'Hunting Crest' is a beautiful outdoor escape that embodies the client's vision and their way of life. The balance of natural environment, functionality, and beautiful craftsmanship significantly enhance the property's curb appeal while creating a unique escape and gathering place for family and friends to use and enjoy daily.
