At the new site at 7405 Castleton in La Jolla Provenza implemented luxurious features such as a steam shower, a work-of-art triple-tiered chandelier for the entryway, and Balinese steps, and it shows why clients from Del Mar, Mission Hills, Point Loma, and beyond keep coming back to Provenza in the first place. Showcasing a selected combination of water-wise plants that perfectly suit the area's dry climate, this showcases a selection of agaves, succulents, and California natives that fulfill an otherwise ornamental need for low-water ground cover. To accompany the green, we added beautiful, clean bluestone paths paired with textured concrete patios that evoke the flat lines and geometric shapes that characterize mid-century architecture. And the custom cedar planters help to warm it up with a touch of natural beauty while a fire pit area offers an inviting place to gather outdoors in the California sun. Among the key challenges was incorporating the design into the existing topography with effective grading and drainage solutions without compromising its sustainability. There were challenges we worked towards overcoming, however, which mainly relied upon the need for sustainable landscaping that would be respectful of nature, while also adding to the property as an aesthetic feature. The end product is a stunning landscape that embodies the ideas that went into it while adding value to the property. Composing modern looks with some greenery creates a peaceful outdoor atmosphere for relaxation and entertainment. Needless to say, our client was over the moon, calling the "both pretty and functional, or, in other words, mid-century modern."
