Palo Alto 2015 (2) Completed by Keith Willig Landscape Architecture, Inc. Situated in the heart of Silicon Valley, the Palo Alto 2015 (2) successfully balanced innovative design and natural beauty by Keith Willig Landscape Architecture, Inc. This large property was completely renovated into a peaceful outdoor escape, while still meeting the needs for functionality. One of the prominent features was the elaborate hardscape created using sustainable materials from local distributors. The team used beautiful, textured pavers to create a winding pathway that invites curiosity, while also enduring hard use and maintenance. An attractive water feature was also created, using natural stone and native plants to create a peaceful atmosphere that promotes serenity. A wide variety of plant species were planted in a thoughtful design meant to thrive in the Mediterranean climate. Drought-tolerant, brightly colored plants such as succulents and herbs were planted in strategic areas to reduce water usage and produce seasonal colors. Existing mature trees were also maintained to provide additional character and balance with the new landscaping design. An interesting aspect of this was dealing with the slope in the property. Creative design and execution worked well together to address the requirements of water drainage as well as soil stabilization. A tiered garden was designed to deal with these pressures while adding layers of interest to the garden without the perception of height. The was ultimately a stunning landscape that is not only pleasing to the clients but also invites family and friends to gather. There is a seamless connection with the indoor and outdoor spaces while accommodating the clients’ lifestyle choices through the detailed design work. The end product is a testament of quality workmanship, creative design, and client satisfaction from Keith Willig Landscape Architecture, Inc., and is rightfully a jewel in the Palo Alto community.
