About This Project

Hillsborough 2019 In 2019, Keith Willig Landscape Architecture, Inc. was fortunate to have the opportunity to design a sprawling hillside property in the elite community of Hillsborough into an extraordinary outdoor retreat. This expansive consisted of native and drought-tolerant plants acclimated to the California climate, designed to reduce the amount of water needed. Fine quality materials, including natural stone pathways and sustainably sourced hardwood decking, were hand-selected for durability and visual interest. One significant obstacle was the steep nature of the site, which required creative grading solutions, in order to accommodate outdoor uses. Additionally, we created terraced garden beds, which helped provide both visual interest and functionality. An irrigation system was part of an integrated solution for sustainability, which ensured the thriving new plantings. The final results presented a stunning landscape that incorporated a water feature for quiet reflection, which physically demonstrated the retreat. The clients were thrilled with the results and sincerely appreciative of the detail very evident to the eye as well as the quality and beauty of the craftsmanship. The Hillsborough 2019 demonstrates our capacity and ability to elevate outdoor spaces, and be positively referenced in the community between Atherton and Woodside.
