Stanford 2017 Crafted by Keith Willig Landscape Architecture, Inc., Stanford 2017 represents landscape design at the intersection of nature and art. Located in the heart of Stanford, the showcases a transformation of outdoor living spaces with a design that compliments the existing and surrounding landscapes, while enhancing the aesthetic value of the property. The utilizes a combination of native plants and drought-tolerant plants which add color, lower maintenance, and sustainability value to the design. The plant palette consists of many colorful, succulent plants with ornamental grasses and trees carefully sited to provide shade and interest in the winter months. A key feature of the design is a stunning flagstone pathway that weaves through the landscape allowing the user to interact, explore, and connect with nature. Despite various challenges, Keith Willig Landscape Architecture, Inc. was successful integrating the site's topography and existing drainage issues. Working with various balancing and grading techniques while implementing modern, and more sophisticated, drainage solutions ensured adequate water management while maintaining the natural character of the landscape. Overall, the designed product is a peaceful outdoor retreat that supports functional living spaces for relaxation and social experiences. The patio has a custom built in seating and fire pit, which allows clients to gather and enjoy the outdoors, and a place for evening discussion under the stars. At final meeting, clients expressed their satisfaction and pride in the 's enhancements to their home, the value it adds and even more importantly the enjoyment it brings into their lives.
