Peaceful Passive Garden by Goldberg & Rodler, Inc. Goldberg & Rodler, Inc. is delighted to showcase the 'Peaceful Passive Garden', a beautiful oasis created and designed for a very selective client on Long Island that more than exceeds site expectations. The over 2,000 square feet garden integrates the best of natural beauty with functional outdoor living. The plants for the garden are native species especially chosen to thrive in the local climate and to attract pollinators to contribute biodiversity. Featured are butterfly bush, coneflower and ornamental grasses, planted at varying growth heights to add seasonal layers of texture and color. An inviting stone path constructed from local bluestone allows for meandering throughout the garden and provides access to a seating area with comfortable furniture that can withstand the elements. One of the big obstacles to this was the different planes the yard had. Our grading team graded the yard to provide drainage, while taking care to capitalize on the natural slope that adds visual interest. This gave us the opportunity to install a rain garden that attenuates storm water runoff while providing habitat and environmental stewardship. A gently bubbling fountain and boulders placed throughout the space define and reinforce peacefulness, while providing sound and visual points of interest to draw the mind into relaxation. We installed raised beds made from reclaimed wood, which prolong the lifespan of the wood while retaining eco-friendly standards. The 'Peaceful Passive Garden' created an underutilized yard into a colorful sanctuary that delighted the client upon completion. The synthesis of form and function enhances the aesthetic of the property while deepening the owner's relationship to nature. It has turned into a retreat we hope the client enjoys for at least several years to come.
