Lake Orion Project

Lake Orion by BARKMAN LANDSCAPING INC. BARKMAN LANDSCAPING INC., located in beautiful Lake Orion, completed an ambitious landscape renovation that transformed outdoor living for their client in Davison. The design married the beauty of nature and usable space, resulting in a spectacular landscape that complements the peaceful lakeside setting. The process began with a detailed examination of the current space to develop functional opportunities while maintaining the natural beauty of the area. Our talented team developed a multi-tiered planting scheme with a variety of native plants, tolerant of the environment, and designed to require minimal maintenance, all while providing year-round colour. A beautiful stone walkway, built from locally quarried flagstone, meanders throughout the planting and leads visitors to a tranquil seating area, which features benches made from sustainably harvested wood. One of the most significant challenges, in addition to developing a functional and beautiful space, was the slope of the existing property. Our team tackled the slope effortlessly with natural boulders to provide solid retaining walls, giving a continuous organic aesthetic to the space. Furthermore, our team understood the complexities of producing a usable space for a variety of functions by providing a drainage solution to route surface water on the property without pooling, while also extending the longevity of the new plantings. Finally, as the was coming to an end, we created a beautiful water feature: a small waterfall flowing into a pond, where there are aquatic plants surrounding the pond infrastructure, providing a healthy ecosystem and a viable habitat for local wildlife. The final product for the Lake Orion is a stunning landscape that aligns with the client's goals and provides natural beauty to the area. The client was excited their landscape renovation and indicated that it has become their space for peace and gathering.
