Narragansett Residence Located on the scenic shoreline of Rhode Island, the Narragansett Residence by Matunuck Design Group Inc. manifests an exceptional connection between architecture and nature. This comprehensive landscape was able to re-invent the outdoor architecture as a beautiful getaway that inspires the client both for leisure and entertainment. Through the use of locally sourced and high-quality materials, our team created beautiful stone pathways that wove through gardens of lush vegetation, ultimately culminating in a tranquil outdoor seating area surrounded by vibrant native plants. The utilized granite boulders that fit perfectly with the coastal site; in addition, these durable boulders can withstand abuse from the elements. We incorporated a range of perennials and ornamental grasses that offer year-round durability and seasonal interest to the landscape. One of the main challenges for this was to create drainage solutions for a sloped site without compromising the aesthetics of the property while avoiding erosion. With this challenge in mind, our skilled landscape architects created a series of terraced plant beds to navigate the water flow, giving the property a visible invitation to connect and enjoy the colorful plant beds that offer dimension and character to the garden. The end result is an open outdoor retreat that excites the client; the ultimate gathering place for family and friends emerged as a custom fire pit surrounded by seating. The discretion of the soft outdoor lighting allows the site to be transformed for evening occasions while emphasizing the architectural features of the various gathering spaces.
