Architectural Mixed Edible Gardens Edible Landscapes and Construction Pty | HomeHarvest HomeHarvest recently finished a fantastic landscape called 'Mixed Edible Gardens' aimed to beautify outdoor areas for clients spanning across various diversity of communities such as Allston, Arlington and Woburn. The was a creative interpretation of conventional gardening that focuses on design landscapes that include diverse edible plants to create green spaces that provide both beauty and self-sustaining habitats. Our integrated designs filled graceful, curated beds with perennial herbs, lush vegetables, and vivid fruits. We used locally-sourced, long-lasting materials, such as sustainably harvested cedar for raised beds and permeable pavers for pathways, for an ideal eco-footprint. Gardens were designed to respond to the at-home microclimates, employing companion planting for boosting growth and pest deterrence. Soil quality was also an issue we battled since the sites had different soil. The car dal team conducted thorough soil tests and applied organic amendments, wherever it was necessary, for the soil to create best growing conditions. We then developed an efficient irrigation system using drip lines and a rainwater catchment system that supports the gardens while minimizing water loss. The end result of 'Mixed Edible Gardens' is a beautiful line of vibrant and productive gardens that not only delighted our clients, but also inspired their families to connect with nature and the benefits of home-grown produce. The has transformed every day yards into aesthetically pleasing spaces that are functional and provide ingredients for the kitchen as well as a greater sense of place with the land.
