About This Project

Belmont - Drought Tolerant The Belmont has been designed and built by Greensleeves Garden Design with sustainable landscaping at its core. Not only do we achieve an aesthetic outcome of beauty and practicality for drought-prone garden standard, but we also contribute to the sustainability of the for our eco-friendly customers, living underground in Atherton and Palo Alto. This was designed to utilize an amazing variety of native and drought-tolerant plants (ex. California poppies, lavender, succulents, etc.); all adapted to our climate and will not require supplemental water irrigaton. We wanted to create a layout that felt natural, so we implemented natural stone pathways that invite you to explore your garden and lead you to a peaceful seating area, outfitted with a custom-designed handmade wooden pergola to enjoy the ideal outdoor space for lounging or entertaining. The primary challenge of this was the rocky terrain. This challenge required advanced planning strategies for adequate drainage and plant placement. Our experienced team used permeable materials and boulders, as well as considering drainage designs for the planting treatments to enhance rain retention and beauty. The end result is a garden space that accessories and contributes to the aesthetics of the house and garden, naturally conserves water, and creates an experience and space for the customers to thrive. Our clients were exceedingly happy with the outcome of the transformation of their yard. They love the colors and textures of their new garden, which is now not only built for but a guarantee of, eco-friendly gardening.
