Oxford Street - An incredible landscaping This impressive located in the heart of a busy suburb emphasizes SURROUNDS Landscape Architecture + Construction's commitment to quality, creativity, and sustainability. The was crafted to the highest standards, not only improving outdoor aesthetics, but also usability, and was conceived to turn a standard yard into a beautiful green oasis while complementing the existing architecture. Features of the Oxford Street include a finely designed hardscape of natural stone walkways and appealing retaining walls made from local bluestone. In addition to providing solid, long lasting structures, these built forms combine effortlessly with the landscape, they provided the perfect balance of building forms and nature. The team was faced with an uneven site and resolved this with a tiered planting design that adds dimensionality while providing a successful drainage method to avoid puddling of water. The talented horticulturists sourced a mix of native plants which included varied colored perennials, ornamental grasses, and a few large, robust shrubs. Native plants typically require less water and allow for less concern biodiversity, both pieces aligning with SURROUNDS sustainability mission statement. They also included a custom build firepit with seating for creating outdoor comfort and entertaining friends and family. The Oxford Street is a successful example of crafting a delightful landscape that far exceeds the clients expectations!
