Mid-Century Modern; Tribute to Frey The beautiful landscaping that compliments the style of Mid-Century Modern is showcased in "Mid-Century Modern; An Ode to Frey" by Gabriela Yariv Landscape Design. Located in the center of Pasadena, this unites a careful study of native vegetation, geometric patterns, and sustainable materials, reminiscent of the designs of celebrated architect Richard Neutra. Domino Design Garden save plants such as succulent, agave and other drought-tolerant plants were strategically placed throughout the landscape to create a juxtaposition to the clean lines of the home. Decomposed granite pathways take them onwards to carefully curated outdoor “rooms,” including a very peaceful meditation corner done up with greenery and a sleek fire pit that can be activated on cooler evenings. Among the most distinctive features of this is the inclusion of natural stone, which was harvested locally to ensure authenticity as well as sustainability. Incorporated planters also fashioned from the stone are featured in the patio and seating walls create a smooth transition between the built environment and the landscape. During our time working on the , we also faced challenges such as implementing terrain with existing irrigation to carefully retrofit. By mobilising problem-solving techniques and top quality workmanship, we endeavoured to create a landscape that was not only complementary but also purposeful to the home and eye. The end product displays a beautiful, harmonious yard, showcasing the classic appeal associated with mid-century design. Some clients were blown away by how the built landscape reflects what Frey intended in his architecture, incorporating environmental stewardship. Serving residential clients in the areas of Altadena, Arcadia, East Pasadena, Los Angeles, Pasadena, San Marino, Sierra Madre, South Pasadena, West Hollywood, Bradbury, Beverly Hills, Brentwood, Malibu and Santa Monica, this is a further testament to Gabriela Yariv Landscape Design's commitment to artistry, craftsmanship, and ecological responsibility.
