About This Project

Palisades Bluff Contemporary This is the latest from landscaping design company Gabriela Yariv Landscape Design, the new home is called 'Palisades Bluff Contemporary' and it is located on a hillside in Pasadena. Our design team took on the challenge of creating a cohesive outdoor space that complemented the home's contemporary architecture while providing a private retreat for the owners. The centerpiece of this , and the most visually interesting element, is a multi-level terrace that includes a matrix of native drought-resistant plants representing a colorful and textural palette throughout the year. Natural stone pavers and sustainably sourced hardwoods were chosen for inviting pathways and warm seating areas. Natural boulders not only organicize the landscape but also function to create tiered planting beds that improve water and soil health. A major challenge was the steep slope of the property which we dealt with by utilising an innovative type of retaining wall system that naturally stabilises the landscape. We also put in an efficient irrigation system that takes very little water to keep the greenery blooming, helping conservation efforts. It sees the ultimate combination of contemporary architecture and natural scenery with a quiet pond that reflects the sky and creates ambiance. This has not only improved the beauty of the property but has also enhanced its usability, including the ability to use the outdoor living space for entertaining. The thrilled homeowners can enjoy their modern garden, a slice of both sanctuary and style that not only embraces but embodies sophistication and sustainability in one of Los Angeles’ most sought after neighborhoods.
