Craftsman Bungalow By Gabriela Yariv Landscape Design The 'Craftsman Bungalow' by Gabriela Yariv Landscape Design in Pasadena, California, demonstrates how landscaping balances artistry with functionality. Ana and her team turned this traditional bungalow's outdoor area into a beautiful retreat that could serve the lively communities of Altadena, Arcadia, East Pasadena, Los Angeles, San Marino and beyond. The intelligent use of native California plants in this contributed to its beauty, but more importantly, to its progeny cal biodiversity and irrigation savings. The mix of potent color containing a variety of succulent Foliage, Lavenders, and breathtaking California poppies, became a seasonal statement bursting with year-long color. In keeping with the architecture of the bungalow, natural stone walking paths, made from local material, were incorporated as a natural extension into the surroundings. Gabriela managed to circumvent the challenge of uneven terrain by strongly contouring the landscape to maintain functionality with visual delight. Tiered garden beds that gave depth and character but still facilitated effective drainage in heavy rain. In addition, outdoor seating space was created, which includes bespoke wood benches and dining area, as well as a fire pit, ideal for serving guests or some peaceful evenings at the stars. The reclaimed wood that was used for the seating added character but also offered a sustainable element that contributed to the client's commitment to environmentally-conscious living. The end result turned out even better than anyone could have imagined, creating a beautiful outdoor space that is ideal for both hosting and relaxation. The customer loved the attention to detail and how the elements of the landscape flowed into one another to create a lovely design with elements and craftsmanship that reflected upon the home and its surroundings.
