Description of the Harrison Landscape Designed and installed by Sean Jancski Landscape Architects LLC, Harrison Landscape is a breathtaking conversion alongside the unique request from our client in Rye. This crafted outdoor environment evokes a blend of nature and function, improving the site immensely. The provided a substantial patio surface out of bluestone; the texture allowed for a natural feel while also facilitating durability. Gardens framed the patio filled with perennials. We incorporated native plant materials, which established a colorful presence and added to local biodiversity. A properly designed irrigation system promotes healthy plants while conserving water. One of the challenges was the slope of the site and how to creatively grade the areas for gathering and leisure, while other areas of the site functioned successfully as gardens. We explicitly design terraced gardens to provide visual interest to our audience while still reducing erosion and encouraging sustainability. Custom stone walls and stairs were used to promote utility of the site while matching the existing natural elements. Light incorporated shaped the space by confirming features, and invites utilization into the night. The outcome is a beautiful landscape emphasizing our client’s vision. The site has already been used for family gatherings and outdoor entertainment to great response. The owner has shared incredibly positive feedback. Ultimately, Sean Jancski Landscape Architects LLC did not just meet the clients expectations, but exceeded them, and hopes to work further down this path with the owner in future s.
