Large Property in Needham Terrascapes Landscape Design is excited to share our latest , the Large Property in Needham - a transformation that demonstrates our belief in quality and artistry in landscaping. The expansive estate was situated in a lovely neighborhood but needed a total redesign to suit the property to its natural beauty and function. We started this with an idea of creating an inviting outdoor living area that worked in temporally and visually with its surroundings. We analyzed the existing topography, plants, and features on the property to bring the client’s ideal landscape to life. One of the major challenges included working with the elevation changes present over the landscape which we managed through the use of tiered planting beds and natural stone retaining walls which kept the plants in place, managed drainage, and provided the with visual interest. To create the effect the client desired, we selected a beautiful range of native plants; including colorful perennials and strong shrubs that add beauty while reaching their potential in the Massachusetts climate. The addition of local granite boulders added a rustic character to the design, as well as the reclaimed wood and natural stone pathways that dispersed exploration through the gratified landscapes. We kept the semi formal theme throughout by including a fountain to create a lovely, tranquil sound, attracting nearby wildlife and giving the space a beautiful ambiance. The final results demonstrate a stunning landscape that reflects the client’s style and maintains the beauty of the natural elements within the property. While natively beautiful, there were spaces for an inviting outdoor living area. With blooming and leaves turning colors throughout the seasons it is a perfect little sanctuary to relax in and entertain their friends. The client shared their delight, saying it was above expectations and importantly increased their appreciation for the outdoors.
