Summary: Sunny Front and Shady Back Garden Design Terrascapes Landscape Design is delighted to present the Sunny Front and Shady Back Garden Design , a successful and transformative landscape design that was designed in the city of Newton. This design equally balances the affordability of bright and cheerful sunny areas with quiet and calm shaded retreats all while having the design catered to our clients’ way of life and vision. For the front garden, we sought to design an inviting and cheerful curb appeal. We utilized a stunning collection of native perennials that included cone flowers (Echinacea), daylilies (Hemerocallis), and ornamental grasses, that produced a collection of vegetative color that is all suited for full-sun locations. A beautiful flagstone path, made of local stone, invited that visitors narrative to experience the beauty of nature outside of their front door. Our challenges were preparing a sloped area while managing and dealing with the potential of drainage, all while intentionally crafting a beautiful outdoor aesthetic. Our efforts for solving the challenge of slope included well-defined terracing and strategically placed boulders around the area for function and form. The back garden has its own narrative and is intended to be a space of calmness, to be embraced by shade. Here, we surround the area with a wonderful collection of plants that enjoy shade, including luscious layers of hostas ferns and astilbes and voiced with the soothing sound of a water feature that we built amongst the landscaping. At last as we wrapped up the it was a design of form and function giving the client the possibility of both sun-kissed moments with guests and shaded reflections. The was a success above and beyond the clients expectations and increased the overall property value and beauty to the residence.
