Jewel Tones on a Steep Slope Rock Paper Clippers is proud to present the 'Jewel Tones on a Steep Slope' a truly inspiring showcase of our vision for quality and creativity in the landscaping space. This , set in the lovely hills of Menlo Park, was conceived as an enhancement of a steep slope in order to create a feast for the senses and a true oasis for our client. The began with a thorough site assessment to evaluate the unique site aspects that were affecting the sloped areas we were looking to enhance, particularly soil erosion and the usability of the space since it was inclined and difficult to navigate. Our talented and highly qualified staff worked with a tiered planting strategy implemented with sturdy, local products. We consciously selected a range of plants with jewel-tones just like the colors in our Japanese Maples in dark burgundies, Salvia in vibrant purples, and Coreopsis in golds with bright yellows - all worked into a cozy combination of flora to promote growing in the California climate. The enhancement was paired with natural stone retaining walls to add longevity to the use of this area for landscape and to maintain slope stability. The walls were crudely designed to only be support and not clash with the natural beauty of the hills. To promote conservation of water, we also created a drip irrigation system to sustain plant availability throughout the seasons. This resulted in such a fantastic range of colors and textures that not only added to the beauty of the property, but also presented a more natural approach to steep slope additions in landscaping.
