Tranquility Rock Paper Clippers is proud to present 'Tranquility,' an incredible landscape that reimagined an outdoor oasis in the center of Menlo Park. This represents our standard of quality workmanship and attention to detail, as evident from our landscaping work in our surrounding communities of Belmont, Emerald Lake Hills, Highlands-Baywood Park, Redwood City, San Carlos, San Mateo, and West Menlo Park. The goals of 'Tranquility' were to create a serene outdoor space that is integrated with nature and offers the homeowner a place of respite. Our team began with the important task of evaluating the site, specifically the unevenness of the site's topography and limited sunlight in parts of the property. Our team sought out garden beds to address these areas effectively and created a tiered garden that not only develops the aesthetics of the site but also enhances the use of the space. This features a multi-layer garden bed filled with native plants and a selection of colorful perennial plants, which together offer a landscape piece that requires low-maintenance and established plants as well. We installed gorgeous stone paths that meander through the garden space that add beauty and accessibility to the overall landscape application. We built stunning wooden trellises with vines that offer a feeling of intimacy, while outdoor lights add warmth and usability after the sun sets. To achieve sustainability, we incorporated a variety of sustainable materials into the design for both the raised garden beds and hardscape. For example, we used reclaimed wood for raised garden beds and permeable pavers to allow for efficient water drainage. The drip irrigation also conserves water and helps promote existing irrigation to relieve new plant installation fatigue. The true pinnacle of 'Tranquility' is to the water feature, which is a small pond with natural waterfalla focal point that would attract wildlife but says ‘calmness’ as represented by the sound of a trickling waterfall; this element was designed to appear as natural as the landscape around it, and create a peaceful and cohesive spatial occupation.
