About This Project

'A Little Zen' by Rock Paper Clippers Rock Paper Clippers recently completed a beautiful landscaping d 'A Little Zen' in the quiet Menlo Park neighborhood. This beautifully designed outdoor space embodies peace and natural beauty and is closely aligned with what the client wanted for a relaxation space. The consisted of a pure blend of lush native plants that were meant to thrive in the local climate and support pollinators. The featured a beautiful koi pond surrounded by smooth river stones and water lilies to create a zen focal point for relaxation. The footprint of the had a path of sustainably sourced hardwood that meandered through the garden and encouraged visitors to stop and enjoy the plants carefully placed to interact with visitors. One of the biggest challenges was into a usable space, and our team took advantage of the slope on the side of the house to create a tiered solution and decorative walls all made of natural stone. This allowed us to create multiple levels, creating numerous planting areas and seating areas for someone finding a quiet moment or multiple families and friends to gather to enjoy the outdoors. To stick with eco-friendly practices, we placed a rainwater harvesting system to feed the garden to continue the sustainability of outdoor water during the wet season. There was also thoughtfulness with the lighting, and that was a mix of soft LED lights to light the paths and capture different garden features for enjoyment after the sun dropped. The end result is a beautiful zen garden that flows with the surroundings and gives a client their own peaceful place to unwind. The feedback from the client was overwhelming, from the craftsmanship quality to the design that set their outdoor space apart to develop a restful escape.
