At this residence in Stowe, Vermont, we have helped transform the property into a synergistic blend of nature and artistry under the direction of Church Hill Landscapes, Inc. Our group carefully planned and followed through with a full landscape construction plan that incorporates the natural beauty surrounding the site, but also creates a sense of functionality and aesthetics. The included a beautiful palette of native plantings which includes perennial gardens and hardier shrubs that thrive in Vermont's climate. Along with many other selected plants, hardy ferns and vibrant daylilies, included in the design, were thoughtfully spaced throughout the location to create visual interest throughout all four seasons. We also used locally sourced stone to construct the walkways and retaining walls to provide lasting durability, but also provide that natural feel associated with the architecture of the residence. One of the site's main challenges to address was the gradual slope of the entire site. Our team was able to navigate the grading of the site, and work with the owners in a design that incorporated a French drain system to manage the runoff on the slope. The creation of the French drain system not only addressed water runoff but also created the right conditions for healthy plant growth while helping avoid issues of erosion on the slope. This process also allowed us to efficiently and thoughtfully create terraced gardens and spaces enabled the planting areas to be both functional and aesthetically pleasing. To create an outdoor living space, we constructed a custom stone patio which included an integrated fire pit, which provides for an inviting gathering space with both family and friends, while enjoying the stunning Vermont mountains. The bluestone we selected has a warm tone that accentuates the elegance of the site's focal point while remaining consistent with the natural surroundings. Overall, the was a beautiful outdoor oasis, and the family was beyond happy to enjoy this tranquil space while taking in the beauty of the flora Vermont has to offer throughout the property.
