Rugged yet ornate this residential landscaping took a previous lackluster outdoor space and created a visual haven that fits its rustic backdrop perfectly. The design included an elegant use of native plants and ornamental shrubs that thrive in this climate and is intended to blend with the modern hardscapes while still harmonizing with the natural, lush greenery. The use of local stone for pathways and patios provided longevity and enriches the aesthetically pleasing environment. That plant list was like a shoppers guide to the dry garden: drought resistant plants, many indigenous to the area, encouraging sustainability and less water usage. The primary design hurdle was the grade and the need for creative grading to just create flat spaces for the client to entertain or unwind. We efficiently handled grading and drainage to drain water away from the home whilst protecting the landscaping. Combined, the end product is a stunning outdoor area featuring a large patio with purpose-built seating, a fire pit gathering zone, and a garden that is alive with a plethora of colors all year round. The effortless flow from spaces inside to outside, aided by different forms of lighting and accessibility, gave our clients much joy. Designed and custom built by Garden Nest Residential Landscape, 'Orinda 2' is a tribute to quality, creativity, and detail. The result was a that improved the look of the property but also gave the homeowners a relaxing escape, a space that became well used by family and friends. From enhancing Orinda to serving diverse communities across the Bay Area, we are proud to have played a small part and continue to through our craft.
