San Mateo - Hillside Garden Greensleeves Garden Design is thrilled to present the 'San Mateo - Hillside Garden,' a remarkable reconstruction of a neglected hillside location into a beautiful, peaceful outdoor space. The greenspace is situated in the center of San Mateo, CA, demonstrating our superior craftsmanship combined with cutting edge landscaping options. The space is designed to integrate native and drought tolerant plantings that ideally fit with the local climate while minimizing the need for water. Natural stone pathways provide a comfortable journey through the garden and lead guests to a tranquil seating area surrounded by vegetation and colorful flowering plants. Locally sourced boulders provide retaining walls that look great while stabilizing the slope. Management of the steep slope and draining water to prevent erosion along the slope was one of our biggest challenges. Our team developed a step garden, with drainage points and permeable surfaces to allow rainwater to be absorbed for plant and hillside durability. The final outcome is a beautiful oasis of function and beauty that provides the clients with a wonderful outdoor space for relaxation and family and business events. The client was very happy with the work and thanked us for the garden was an improvement to their property's value and certainly their quality of life.
