Locust Knoll

Locust Knoll Developed in partnership with SURROUNDS Landscape Architecture + Construction, Locust Knoll reflects our commitment to sound practices in landscape design and construction. Located in the green, idyllic landscape of Virginia, the immense residential setting was effectively transformed into a dwindling sense of home, facilitating the line between outdoor and indoor spaces, aesthetics, and multi-season functionality. The emphasized a complete landscape overhaul of the site's exterior space, with a beautifully composed outdoor stone patio to provide connection between the outdoor space and the existing site. Our designer utilized a locally available and durable bluestone for its quality and look that would serve as a great base for gatherings with friends. The lavish scape is surrounded by thoughtful seating walls built with a locally harvested flagstone based on comfort and grace, providing meaningly shape and definition to share enjoyable moments as both individuals and in community. The challenging site slope create more of a challenge than opportunity to properly drain/direction the appropriate grade while preserving natural grade. Our established set of skills paved the way for qualified creative grade champions to work and light up the scenery, by creating tiered gardens utilizing retaining walls of aged timber bridging the natural transition while preserving the gradation with rusticity. With a water feature installed to act as soft add to the space of sensory experience of space and habitat potential. The concept of custom installed water feature provides a gentle sense of serenity to the located insulation of a pond transitioned with natural plantings, combined with widely diverse species to act as soft add interest, color, and textures to the space, but also to draw in pollinators. The thoughtfully planted perennial gardens area, staged through out location purposefully to create equal amounts of season interest of color, bloom sequence, and texture as well. Overall, we proud of the delivery of space by both with our attention detail of complementary elements of captured scape and soft elements to provide cohesion with the physical space embellished with complimenting architectural of the home. The result of our time spent during creation of Locust Knoll is priceless in restoring the connection with the surrounding scape.
