California Contemporary Rambler SP Gardens - Susanna Pagan Landscape Design is excited to present our most recent showcase the California Contemporary Rambler, a wonderful landscape that combines contemporary design with the outdoor beauty of Southern California. Located in the peaceful community of Rancho Santa Fe, this illustrates the high quality of craftsmanship and innovative landscape solutions we provide to any client. The landscape design combines native plants, drought-tolerant succulent plants, and wonderful hardscape elements as an oasis that is both sustainable and beautiful. The natural stone pathways gracefully meander through lush garden beds filled with vibrant plant life, meaningfully placed boulders provide visual drama and a sense of permanence. One of the main logistical challenges was mitigating the site’s irregularity in topography. The grading was a challenge, but the professional staff at SP Gardens overcame this inequity by incorporating retaining walls for planting areas - grading for proper drainage and soil stability was executed with precision. We included a contemporary fire pit area made from quality pavers that were chosen specifically because they coordinate with the home’s contemporary architecture. The end result is an outdoor space that works well for relaxation and entertainment, featuring a generous-sized patio for gatherings and ambient lighting that provides drama and improves the landscape at night. Our attention to detail in planning and our commitment to local materials surpassed our client’s expectations and emphasized the sustainable aspects of the landscape.
